PhraseEngine
Built. Finished and working.
Music visuals that follow the phrase, not just the beat.
What it is
Most music visuals react to every beat, so they twitch. PhraseEngine follows the phrase instead: where the music opens, builds, arrives and comes to rest. Visuals made with it swell towards an arrival and settle afterwards, and when the music stops they hold the silence rather than going dark.
The playable gorse at the top of the home page runs on PhraseEngine. It follows your playing in phrases, at your own pace: the gorse plays louder and brighter as a phrase builds and leans home as it resolves, answers in your own sounds when you stop, and the pollen behind it drifts with the same phrase.
