Audio Analysis Agents

A waveform drawn in gorse thorns, with its beats marked underneath

Alpha. It runs, with rough edges.

Python programs that listen to a recording and report what they hear: tempo, metre, swing, loudness, brightness.

What it is

Each agent listens for one kind of thing. The rhythm agent finds the tempo and time signature, where the beats fall, how much the music swings and how steady it is. The temporal agent follows how loud it is over time, and the spectral agent describes how bright or dark it sounds.

Use them as a library in your own Python, or run them as a web service you send recordings to.

Who it’s for

Developers who need to know what’s in a recording, whether for a music app or an AI (artificial intelligence) agent that works with sound.

How far along it is

Open source, under the MIT licence. Packaging for PyPI, the Python Package Index, is planned for 2027.

How to get it

The code is on GitHub.
